On September 30, 2021, Middle School students at The Village School of Naples participated in an immersive colonial era marketplace reenactment. Under the direction of Ms. Tish Tarpley, Middle School Social Studies Teacher, students recreated an authentic colonial marketplace environment with replicas of props, tools, and wardrobe that dated back hundreds of years to the colonial era of the United States.
Throughout the event, students lined the walkway leading towards the North Naples Church Sanctuary, and provided visitors with information related to their respective trades/fields of work. Of note, students demonstrated trades such as glass blowing, natural medicine, and tapestry.
"Through interactive learning experiences such as the colonial era marketplace, our students are provided with the ability to learn in a collaborative and immersive way," said Tish Tarpley, Middle School Social Studies Teacher.
