Internships

Juniors and seniors can do both summer internships. 

Students can apply for up to five summer internships and accept one. Students can do additional internships with the permission of the Internships committee. Permission will be based solely on the desire to have opportunities filed.

Sponsoring employers select the students for the internships based on the applications and in some cases, the interviews.

All students can participate in non-medical shadowing opportunities.

The Medical Shadow program provides both non-PreMed and PreMed students with an opportunity to spend a day with a medial professional on a one-on-one basis. To learn more about this program, please view our Medical Shadowing Q&A.

The goal of the program is to provide meaningful work experiences for students.

Some internship sponsors have students rotate between various department within their company.

Students get maximum benefit from internships where they work on projects that result in a deliverable report or presentation.

Internships are usually 1-3 weeks, and job shadows are usually 1-2 days.

With the exception of non-profit organizations, all summer internships are paid.

For internships, a description of the type of work will be included in the posting that students use to select and apply for internships.

Sponsors receive all student applications and decide whether they would like to interview students. Employers select participating students and notify them.
