Why an Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is backbone of The Village School’s fundraising program. Gifts to The Annual Fund provide unrestricted support to the school each year. Unrestricted gifts are the most valuable to TVS. They allow the School to focus on budget priorities to make your child’s experience the best it can be.
Tuition only covers only about 85% of the operating budget. Gifts to the Annual Fund help bridge the gap between tuition and the full cost of a TVS education. The entire Village School community is asked to support the Annual Fund: Members of the board, faculty & staff, parents, grandparents, alumnae as well as businesses, foundations and other partners.
Our first goal is 100% participation from TVS families. By participating in The Annual Fund, you demonstrate your commitment to the overall work of the school. Second, you help to ensure each child receives the benefits of the TVS experience. Last, foundations and major donors look at parent participation as a gauge of community support before they decide to support the school as well.
Annual Fund gifts from TVS families range in size from $50 to $30,000. The average gift in 2017-2018 was $500. We ask that you make TVS a philanthropic priority while your child/grandchild is here. We greatly appreciate gifts of all sizes and hope that you will give at a level where you are comfortable. Don’t give until it hurts…give until it feels good!
Tuition alone does not cover the cost of operating our school. The National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) recommends that 10 percent of a school’s operating budget come from annual giving. Your generosity helps make The Village School a great place to learn and teach, providing the support to help us attract and retain top-notch faculty members and continue to offer exceptional programs which are unique to The Village School.
